Benefits

• Breast Tomosynthesis (3D) exams provide a way for Radiologists to view breast abnormalities from all angles to help diagnose problems.
• When cancers are small, the woman has more treatment options and a cure is more likely.

Risks

• There are risks associated with any exposure to radiation. However, the benefits outweigh the risk when mammography is done accurately using the lowest possible dose.
• Breast Tomosynthesis (3D) is not recommended for women who are pregnant or could possibly be pregnant.
