The SMIL Breast Nurse Navigator program is available to breast patients at any of SMIL's Breast Centers of Excellence. Each Breast Nurse Navigator is nationally certified by the National Consortium of Breast Centers.
Acting as a liaison between the patient and all other members of her healthcare team, Breast Nurse Navigators can facilitate scheduling appointments for imaging and follow-up. At the request of the patient's providers they can explain and clarify testing and results, help coordinate and expedite treatments and connect patients and families with appropriate resources.
Navigators provide facts and emotional support; they do not offer opinions or make choices for patients. Treatment advice and decision-making always stays with the patient, her physicians and providers. We support those choices.
