Preparations - Heart and Vascular MR Angiography

You will be asked to change into a gown on the day of your heart and vascular cardiac MRA scan at SMIL. You will be asked to remove any metal including jewelry, piercings and bras with metal underwire. You will not be able to scan if you have a defibrillator or pacemaker.

You may be asked not to eat or drink prior to your exam. Specific preparation instructions will be given to you at the time you schedule your appointment.

Tell your SMIL technologist if you have any metal screws, surgical staples, bullet fragments, or other metal in your body including a heart pacemaker or other metal medical devices prior to your heart and vascular MRI angiography scan. Be sure to tell your SMIL technologist if there is any possibility you could be pregnant.
