Detailed Responsibilities

  • Prepares and positions patient for mammography procedures.
  • Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Moves imaging equipment into specified position determines exposure factors based on patient characteristics and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Explains purpose and procedures for breast self-examination to patients and answers patients' questions.
  • Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician.
  • Completes work in RIS and PACS.
  • Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Protocol schedules, obtains and reviews previous mammograms, makes follow-up calls, and performs other administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Prepare and assist with Interventional procedures to include handling of specimens and completing lab forms.
  • Performs Stereotactic procedures, Bone Density procedures and X-ray procedures when needed or required.
  • Must be flexible to work at multiple locations and varied shifts. Demonstrates a commitment to "World Class Customer Service" and promotes a positive work environment.
  • Fileroom tasks up to including uploading CD's, SHS images, digitizing films and creating loan requests Other duties may be assigned.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Explain procedure to patient, to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation. Requests removal of metal objects which are hazardous to patient and equipment when magnet is activated. Position and immobilize patient in exam scanners and observe during scan for patient safety.
  • Monitor video display of area being scanned and adjust technique to improve quality. Review and evaluate images for technical quality for diagnostic purposes.
  • Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff.

  • Screens all personnel prior to entering magnetic resonance imaging room to comply with all safety measures.

  • Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and is responsible in arranging for repairs as needed.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Uses real time work list to prioritize workload in obtaining patient authorization prior to the scheduled exam date and time.
  • Responsible for verification of patient insurance eligibility.
  • Determine individual insurance plan radiology benefits for scheduled exams.
  • Obtain clinical history from referring physician in order to obtain authorization on a scheduled exam.
  • Adheres to Documentation Guidelines pertaining to status of patient benefits and/or authorization.
  • All eligibility, authorization, and determination of benefits information obtained are to be documented appropriately in the patient's medical record in Fuji RIS.
  • Upon completion of the eligibility and authorization process, complete the Authorization Task/tasks.
  • Communicate with patients and/or referring physicians on non-covered benefits or exam coverage issues.
  • Adheres to all HIPAA Guidelines.
  • Provide assistance to Imaging Center Staff, Scheduling Staff, and Assessment Coordinator Departments regarding Authorization and Eligibility.
  • Stay informed; communicate any updates and/or changes in Payor authorization requirements.
  • Inform Contact Center Coordinators and Department Management of potential problem cases to receive direction on how to resolve situations.
  • Responsible for addressing prior exams on worklist.
  • Participate in Team and Payor meetings.
  • Attends scheduled up-training courses as needed on new and revised SMIL Authorization processes and changes in workflow.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the execution of research study protocols.
  • Participate in the conduct of clinical research studies conducted by principal investigator(s) including, but not limited to; grant funded research and/or industry sponsored clinical trials conducted onsite at SMIL and offsite at other participating site locations.
  • Under the guidance of a CRC II or manager, overall project management of clinical studies including submission of site feasibility election questionnaires, site qualification visits, budget development, procedural training and study implementation.
  • Effective communication of clinical project related information including planning and facilitating of study-related meetings and presentations.
  • Work with community physicians' offices to screen and recruit patients who may qualify for SMIL research studies.
  • Develops flow sheets and other study related documents and completes source documents/case report forms.
  • Comply with protocol guidelines and requirements of regulatory agencies: identify problems and/or inconsistencies and monitor patients' progress to include documentation and reporting of adverse events.
  • Review informed consent forms for accuracy and clarity.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities of any technical support staff specifically engaged in the carrying out of research/clinical protocol, as appropriate to the position; may perform aspects of research protocol, as required, in accordance with specified program objectives.
  • Collaborate with physicians and staff to continually improve the clinical research process.
  • Participative in the development of study specific standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a science or health-related field (or equivalent professional experience)

  • College Accredited Certificate of Completion for Clinical Research Coordinating (helpful) Radiology experience (helpful)
  • Proficient in MS Word, Office, Excel, and ACCESS
  • Experience with phlebotomy and lab processing (desired)
