Preparations - Galactography

Very little preparation is necessary for a Galactography exam at SMIL. Prior to the exam, do not squeeze or express any discharge from the nipples.  It is very important for the Radiologist to be able to see which duct is producing discharge at the time of the exam.

Before the Galactography exam you will be asked to remove all jewelry and clothing above the waist. You should inform your SMIL Technologist of any medications you are taking and if you have any allergies, specifically to iodinated contrast materials. Also inform your SMIL Technologist about recent illnesses or other medical conditions.

Tell your SMIL staff if there is any possibility that you are pregnant. Do not wear deodorant, talcum powder or lotion under your arms or on your breasts on the day of the exam. These can appear on the images as calcifications.

Great facility, makes you feel like you are at a spa when you get back into the dressing room and waiting area. Awesome staff, too. Results were received in just a couple days. They made a normally uncomfortable appointment very comfortable.

I was quoted a price on the phone by scheduling that was half the price presented to me at check in for my CT. Vanessa honored the price that was quoted over the phone so I really appreciate that. The injection and the procedure went very smooth. My wrist felt great the next day and I received my results quickly.

Imaging service great, voicemail system for patients awful. Impossible to get a human being to speak with for issues other than scheduling or billing. Voicemail options are rigid and make no provision for "all other issues" not included in the list of reasons you might be calling.
