SMIL offers Galactography, or Ductography, exams for the breasts. Galactography is a highly specialized procedure that uses mammography, a low dose x-ray system for examining breasts, and a contrast material to obtain images of the inside of the breast’s milk ducts.
The breast is composed primarily of 3 structures: fats, lobules and milk ducts. While mammography, ultrasound and MR scans of the breasts provide clear images of the breasts, they do not visualize the inside of the breast’s milk ducts to the same degree as a Galactography exam. SMIL offers Galactography exams for the breasts in the Scottsdale, Arizona region.
The most common use of Galactography is to evaluate a woman who has a bloody or clear discharge from her breast nipple and an otherwise normal mammogram.
