Abdomen Scans
CT, MRI, ultrasound and radiography scans of the abdomen are performed by SMIL typically to help diagnose the cause of abdominal or pelvic pain and diseases of the internal organs, small bowel and colon. CT scanning of the abdomen and pelvis is also performed to detect injuries to the liver, spleen, kidneys or other internal organs in cases of trauma. Abdominal scans can also help guide biopsies and other procedures such as abscess drainages and minimally invasive tumor treatments.
SMIL offers abdomen scan services in Scottsdale, Phoenix, Gilbert, Mesa, Paradise Valley and Fountain Hills, Arizona.
We offer the following abdomen scans:
CT Scans
CT scans performed by SMIL board-certified radiologists offer a more precise, noninvasive visualization of the abdomen to detect infections such as appendicitis, diverticulitis, pyelonephritis or abscesses. CT scans also help detect inflammatory processes such as pancreatitis, liver cirrhosis or inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease.
MR Scans
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans performed by SMIL offer a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions relating to the abdomen. Unlike x-rays and computed tomographic (CT) scans, which use radiation, MRI uses powerful magnets and radio waves.
Ultrasound
SMIL performs abdomen ultrasound imaging to evaluate the kidneys, liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen.
Radiography
Abdomen radiography (x-ray) is performed to evaluate the abdomen. An abdominal x-ray is typically the first imaging test used to help diagnose problems in the upper and lower GI Tract.
In addition to these services, SMIL also offers these interventional radiology and nuclear medicine services for the abdomen:
