Preparations – Heart and Vascular Cardiac MRI Scan

On the day of your heart and vascular cardiac MRI scan at SMIL you will be asked to change into a gown. You will be asked to remove any metal including jewelry, piercings and bras with metal underwire. You will not be able to be scanned if you have a defibrillator or pacemaker.

You may be asked not to eat or drink prior to your exam. Specific preparation instructions will be given to you at the time you schedule your appointment.

Be sure to inform your SMIL technologist about any medical conditions and medications you are currently taking. Women should always let their SMIL staff know if there is any possibility they could be pregnant.
