About the Scan – Pelvic Ultrasound
SMIL offers a pelvic ultrasound to evaluate pelvic pain, find cysts on the ovaries, examine the lining of the uterus, look for causes of infertility and find cancers or benign tumors in the pelvic region. Pelvic ultrasound uses sound waves instead of radiation to generate snapshots or moving pictures of structures inside the pelvic region.
A pelvic ultrasound exam can locate and monitor fibroids on the uterus wall and examine the cervix. Radiologists can also use a pelvic ultrasound exam to evaluate abnormal bleeding and other menstrual problems as well as diagnose an ectopic pregnancy.
