Preparations – Cardiac CT for Calcium Scoring
No advance preparation is necessary for a cardiac CT for calcium scoring scan. You should continue to take your usual medications, but should avoid caffeine and smoking for twenty four hours prior to the exam. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your exam and remove any metal objects including jewelry, eyeglasses, dentures and hairpins. Women will be asked to remove bras containing metal underwire.
Prior to your cardiac CT for calcium scoring scan, tell your SMIL radiologist if you have a pacemaker. Women should always inform their SMIL radiologist if there’s any possibility that they may be pregnant.
