Founded in 1995, SMIL’s research department has been involved in leading-edge research, clinical trials and testing that will improve patient care for years to come. We specialize in investigator-initiated and national, multicenter research and have been the imaging center of choice for many studies undertaken by physicians throughout the Valley. We conduct both outpatient and hospital-based studies.

Our team includes a medical research director and multiple clinical research coordinators who have experience in many areas of clinical investigation and who undertake every study with confidence, skill and efficiency. We are an American College of Radiology (ACR) accredited site and active participant in the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN). ACRIN is a prestigious research collaborative that is funded by the National Cancer Institute to coordinate clinical trials in all areas of radiology. SMIL received the prestigious ACRIN Network Chair's Institutional Achievement Award in September 2005 and October 2006.

Quality research data is critical to the success of trials, regardless of the criteria, protocols or indication being studied. Our expertise and internal systems contribute to a proven record of accurate, reliable data — a record that keeps sponsors in both the pharmaceutical and device industries coming back for quality research they can trust. We will continue to discover new ways to make a positive difference in the lives of people in our community… and beyond.
