Chest Scans

SMIL offers patients the latest technology for chest scans, including chest CT, MRI, ultrasound and radiography.

Chest scans are performed by Southwest Medical Imaging in Arizona to detect lung cancer, old or new pneumonia, tuberculosis, emphysema, inflammation or other diseases of the pleura, lung disease and congenital abnormalities.

CT Scans
CT scans performed by SMIL board-certified radiologists offer a more precise, noninvasive visualization of the structures in your chest like the lungs.

MR Scans
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans performed by SMIL board-certified radiologists offer a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions relating to the chest. Detailed MR images allow physicians to evaluate structures in the chest from almost every angle.

Ultrasound
SMIL performs ultrasound imaging to help detect abnormalities in the chest.

Radiography
The chest radiography (x-ray) is performed to evaluate the lungs, heart and chest wall. A chest x-ray is typically the first imaging test used to help diagnose symptoms such as shortness of breath, persistent cough, chest pain or injury, and fever.
